Abstract
836,416. Washing-machines. EASY WASHING MACHINE CO. Ltd. June 20, 1956, No. 19178/56. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XIII] In a washing machine a rotatable upright tub is supported by a rigid ball for both tilting and lateral movement relative to a base 10, means being provided resiliently urging the tub toward the upright position. Substantially all the subject-matter of the Specification is included in one or more of Specifications 833,445, 836,414 and 836,415. The Specification also describes a modified structure for co-operation with the supporting ball 80a as shown in Fig. 13. The ball 80a rests on a steel plate 84a carried in a ball retainer 82a of rubber or the like. The retainer 82a has a substantially cylindrical wall 83a faced outwardly from the ball and made sufficiently strong to prevent unseating of the ball if abnormal lateral forces are encountered. A flat plate 78a replaces the inverted cup-shaped element of the other construction, and an annular ring 270 of rubber or the like is bonded to the lower surface of this plate to prevent movement of the plate off the ball.
