Abstract

836,377. Extrusion machines. SMITH & CO. (WHITWORTH) Ltd., F. Nov. 24, 1958 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 31098/57. Class 87(2). An extrusion machine has a chamber A with a number of extrusion apertures a and a division plate B which engages a ram C to close the lower portion of the chamber A from the upper portion, movement of the ram C causing the plate to withdraw from the chamber and the material to be extruded. Withdrawal of the ram C allows material to again enter the lower portion of the chamber. The movement of the material in the chamber may be assisted by a ram D, which may be power operated. The material may be discharged on to trays on an intermittently operated conveyer synchronised with the movement of the rams C, D.
