Class 123(3) [Also in Group XII] A steam generating and superheating natural circulation unit comprising a furnace chamber 1 with pulverized fuel burners 3 has a front wall 5 lined with suspended tangent steam generating tubes 11 extending between headers 13, 19, the latter being connected by circulators 21 to a steam and water drum 23 and a rear wall 7 lined with suspended tubes 25 extending between a header 27 and the drum 23. The chamber roof 17 is cooled by generating tubes 35 connecting headers 37 and 39. The floor of a gas pass 31 is lined with superheating tubes 45 connecting headers 47 and 51 whilst the chamber side walls are each - lined with a row of generating and superheating tubes disposed in an alternate arrangement. In a side wall 55 generating tubes extend from a header 65 to a header 67 connected to the drum 23 through circulators 69 whilst the superheating tubes connect headers 75, 77. Thus between adjacent suspended generating tubes 81, Fig. 2, are disposed two suspended superheater tubes 83 held in position by studs 89 welded to the tubes 81 to allow relative longitudinal movement therebetween. In a generator unit having a furnace chamber 301, Fig. 7, the lower zone 301A is lined with generating tubes 321, 325, 331, whilst the upper zone 310B is lined with alternately disposed generating and superheating tubes 341, 343.
