Abstract
The invention comprises dyestuffs which are halogenated 5 : 8 - diamino - 1 : 4 - dihydroxy -, 4 : 5 : 8 - triamino - 1 - hydroxy - and 8 - amino - 1 : 4 : 5-trihydroxy-anthraquinones, and a process for making them or mixtures of them by treating the corresponding unhalogenated anthraquinones with halogenating agents such as chlorine, bromine and sulphuryl chloride. The halogenation may be conducted in diluted, concentrated or fuming sulphuric acid, concentrated hydrohalic acid or in an inert organic solvent. Examples are given. The dyes colour synthetic fibres reddish-blue and blue shades. Specifications 15355/08, 353,932, 368,824, and 396,976 also are referred to.
