Abstract

821,914. Compartmented containers. LABORATOIRES DU DR. DEBAT S. A. DES, and POLGAR, A. Dec. 23, 1957 [Jan. 3, 1957], No. 39943 /57. Class 66. A container comprises a bottle 1 for storing a substance under reduced pressures and fitted with an air-tight plastic stopper 2 through which extends the neck of an ampoule 4, also for storing a substance under reduced pressure, the said neck having a frangible tip 7 which, when broken, inincreases the pressure in the ampoule to that of the atmosphere so causing a part 5 of the ampoule to fall off and mix the contents of ampoule and container. A groove 8 in the ampoule neck enables it to be correctly fitted in the stopper 2. As shown the tip 7 is sealed by fusing, but it may carry a fluid-tight cap for piercing by a needle to admit atmos pheric pressure. The part 5 of the ampoule may be integral with it and defined by weakened lines. The container may have more than two compartments. An example of the use of the invention is for sterile solutions of para-amino salicylic acid in pyrogen-free water.
