Class 44 In a sliding bolt fastening an actuating member 11 is constituted by a length of rod which is provided with end portions 111, 112 formed with self-cutting screw threads, one end portion so screw threaded being adapted to be driven under pressure into a hole 101 in the bolt 10 whilst the other end so screw threaded is adapted to be driven. similarly into a hole 121 in a knob 12. As shown the centre of the rod is not screw threaded but in a modification the whole of the rod is screw threaded and a sleeve is positioned between the bolt and the knob.
