Abstract

829,721. Road vehicle bodies. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Sept. 16, 1957 [Nov. 22, 1956], No. 29111/57. Class 108(1) A motor car has a roof 6 supported on substantially semi-elliptical holow rear pillars 5 forming an awning over a rear window 8, the roof resting upon and being welded to a gutter 17 extending over and welded to a transverse member 18 connecting the pillars 5. Each pillar consists of pressings 9 and 10 welded at 11, and are braced by sections 12 and 13 against which the door 14 closes. Rear signalling lights 16 are mounted on the edges or sides of the pillars. In a modification the pressings 9 of the pillars are each in two parts welded together at the rearward edge of the pillar, the weld being covered by a moulding which also extends around the rear window.
