A curved laminated glass panel is manufactured by a method including the steps of mounting a first sheet of bent glass on a support with its convex surface uppermost, placing a sheet of flexible interlayer material on said glass sheet, and placing a second sheet of bent glass conforming with the contour of said first sheet over said interlayer sheet to form a stacked unit with said first glass and interlayer sheets. The assembly may be then subjected to a bonding step, which may be accomplished by passage through a nipper roll press, the assembly having its convex surface still uppermost. As shown, a pair of identically bent glass sheets 3 and 6 is laid convex side up on a framework 1 having an upper surface 2 of convex shape adapted to conform, at least around the periphery, with glass sheet 3, the upper glass sheet 6 is raised to expose the upper surface of the lower sheet 3, a sheet 4 of flexible interlayer material is laid on the upper surface of said lower sheet and the upper glass sheet lowered on to said interlayer sheet. The raising and lowering of sheet 6 may be carried out by means of suction cups 7. Nipper roll presses for pressing curved laminated glass convex side up have the upper roll made larger or of softer material than the lower roll, or may have the upper roll both larger and of softer material. The rolls may be conical or divided along their axes into series of relatively narrow roll sections some of which may be rotatable and/or slidable independently of the others.
