A packing device for eggs and the like comprises a strip of cardboard having curved score lines 19, 20 enclosing unscored areas having diametrical slits 12. The strip may be bent to tubular shape and recesses are formed by pressing down the arcuate portions. The portion enclosed by the score lines may be circular.
