828,504. Belt tensioning. WURTT EMBERGISCHE SPINDELFABRIK G.m.b.H. Dec. 16, 1957 [Dec. 14, 1956], No. 39017/57. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group IX] In a spinning or twisting machine the driving- belt is tensioned by variable fluid-pressure means acting through a lever upon a tensioning member engaged with the belt. In Fig. 1, where four spindles are driven by a belt 7, a pressure-plate 4 transmits the pressure from a flexible hose 3, which is carried in a conduit 2, through the lever 9 to an arm 1 pivotally mounted on the conduit 2 and carrying a tensioning pulley 5. In a one-spindle drive, Fig. 3, a pulley 12 is mounted on one arm of a pivoted lever 14, the other arm being acted on by a pressure-plate 18. A piston moving in a pressurized cylinder may replace the pressure-plate and hose. In all embodiments a number of tensioning members may be controlled by a single hose fitted with a pressure gauge.
