Abstract
828,218. Protective cut-out systems. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. June 13, 1956 [June 13, 1955], No. 18330/56 Class 38 (5). In a polyphase system in which the insulated sheath of the cable is earthed through an auxiliary supply source 6 and tripping relay coil 7, which is energized when a foreign body earths the sheath, the sheath is connected to an arrangement of one or more capacitors and transformers to compensate for capacitive unbalance currents which may produce unwanted tripping when one phase is earthed external to the cable. In Fig. 2, the sheath 5 is connected to capacitors 12, 14 fed by the secondaries of transformers 11, 13 which are earthed at the other terminal. The primaries of these transformers are connected between phases 2 and 3, respectively, and the earthed phase 1. In Fig. 3 a single transformer 15 has its primary connected between the insulated, or an artificial, neutral and earth, this arrangement operating regardless of which phase is externally earthed.
