Abstract
827,118. Ammunition fuzes. BREVETS AERO-MECANTQUES S.A. Feb. 11, 1958 [Feb. 18, 1957], No. 4478/58. Class 9(1) A direct action percussion fuze having a body 1 adapted to be screwed into the nose of a shell as in Specification 785,204 differs from the prior invention in the construction of the striker 15 and firing pin 2. The pin 2 has a head 13 freely slidable in an axial recess 14 extending to the tip of the fuze. The striker or hammer 15 is spaced from the head 13 and is preferably of smaller radius than the head 13, so that play between the cylindrical wall of the recess and the hammer is greater than the head 13. A disc 16 on the hammer bears against a shoulder E on the body 1 and is secured by turning the body over a retaining ring 17. On impact the disc is sheared and the hammer released.
