826,891. Primers and delay igniters. BAUMANN-, L. Jan. 21, 1958 [Jan. 26, 1957], No. 2058/58. Class 9(1) A primer for closing the circuits of electric fuzes comprises a casing 1 containing a fuzehead 2 supported by electric leads 3 and a delay fuze 6 for igniting an explosive charge 7. When the charge 7 has been ignited, a piston 8 moves until a contact pin 9 hits a fixed contact 10 at the end of the casing. The contact 9 is connected to one of the leads 3 and a conductor 5 connected to the other lead 3 completes the circuit through the contacts 9, 10 when they close and connects with another conductor leading to a similar priming device. Connected to the leads 3 are conductors 4 leading to directly detonatable fuzed charges or to a group detonated after a delay by a similar priming device. In Fig. 2, three groups 14, 15, 16 of explosive charges have instantaneous fuzes, the group 14 being ignited directly from the leads 3 and simultaneously with group 14 a primer 11 is ignited to fire, after a predetermined delay, the group 15 and the primer 12, which in turn fires the group 16 and the primer 13.
