Class 143 In a spring balance of the kind in which the weigh pan 22 is connected by spring plates 17, 18 to an intermediate member 12 which is, in turn, connected by spring plates 10, 11 to the base frame 5, 7 of the balance, the spring plates 10, 11, 17, 18 are pre-bent in such a way that under no-load conditions they assume an S-shape whilst when the pan contains its maximum load they are approximately flat. The scale is adjusted by inserting weights in holes 24, 25.
