813,638. Portable containers such as drums. BOWATER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Feb. 21, 1957 [Feb. 22, 1956], No. 5545/56. Class 66. A drum 1, Fig. 1, of fibre board or like material, comprises a cylindrical body 2 having an end portion 4 folded inwards to enclose a cylindrical flange 15 of an L-shaped metallic ring 18 supporting a closure disc 20, said folded over portion and flange being finally bent inwards, as in Fig. 2, to lie against the closure disc 20. The disc 20 may be of fibre board, metal, or some other rigid material. The folded over portions may be stitched or stapled together, or be adhesively bonded together. In a modified construction flexible sheet material, for example paper, is laminated to one or both surfaces of the disc 20 and extends into the end portion 4.
