Abstract
811,811. Centrifugal fans. YORK SHIPLEY Ltd. March 5, 1957 [March 7, 1956], No. 7306/57. Class 110 (1). [Also in Groups X and XIII] A centrifugal fan arrangement in a housing for air conditioning equipment (see Group X) for delivering fresh air, and a mixture of fresh and secondary air, respectively over a condenser 51, Fig. 2, and an evaporator 53 in a refrigerating circuit, comprises a variable speed motor 46, which is supported by a bracket 47 beneath a drip pan 17 in the housing, and carries, on its drive shaft 45, two identical, single eye, fan runners 43, 44, the radial dimensions of which are large compared to their axial dimensions. The runners 43, 44 are housed in snail-shell housings 21, 22 which each have an air inlet shroud 48 and outlet openings 24, 23 leading respectively to evaporator and condenser plenum spaces. The speed of the motor 46, which extends partially within the shroud 48 of the shell 21, is controllable by a pivoted plate 57 which varies the size of an air outlet aperture in the evaporator plenum space and has a lug 60, Fig. 6, which engages the actuator of a toggle switch which controls the speed of motor 46.
