Abstract
810,901. Brake cylinders. COMPAGNIE DES FREINS ET SIGNAUX WESTING- HOUSE. March 26, 1957 [March 30, 1956], No. 9912/57. Class 103 (1). In a fluid pressure braking system for vehicles, a single brake cylinder 1 is provided in which are arranged two axially aligned pistons 3, 4; piston 3 normally abutting against fixed stops 7 at the cover plate end 2 of cylinder 1 and piston 4 abutting piston 3 through projection 15 under the force of return spring 16; a thrust rod 13 of the brake ring bearing on the second piston 4, independent fluid inlets being provided, one (9) leading to the chamber 8 from a main braking circuit, the other (through hollow pipe 19) leading to chamber 17 from an emergency braking circuit. Leakage past seals 21, 21<SP>1</SP> from either the main or emergency brake may be indicated by a leakage indicator in the driver's cabin with its connection at port 24.
