Abstract

810,812. Cleaning tubular articles : abrasive blasting. GRANT, V. D. Aug. 3, 1956 [Oct. 7, 1955], No. 28640/55. Classes 60 and 138(1). [Also in Group XXIX] Apparatus for internal abrasive cleaning of tubular articles, comprises a pipe a, Fig. 3, enclosing a coaxial tube b fitted with a terminal spreader device d, whereby air forced through the tube b will be diverted substantially radially in relation to the open end of the pipe a, so as to scatter a stream of abrasive-carrying liquid flowing through the annular space between the pipe a and enclosed tube b. The spreader d has a stem e adjustably screwed into a socket f mounted in the tube b, the latter being entered in the pipe a by lugs c. Abrasivecarrying liquid may be caused to flow either under pressure or by ejector action of the air in the gap g. A pistol-grip handle h may be provided and include a trigger control for the admission of compressed air to the tube b. In a modification the coaxial tubes are connected to coaxial flexible tubes carrying the compressed air and abrasive-carrying liquid.
