Abstract
Strip is provided from powdered copper by (i) pre-compacting into strip by cold rolling, (ii) coiling this strip into separate rings, (iii) uncoiling the separate rings and passing them in extended form through a sintering furnace (with a temperature not exceeding 1000 DEG C.); and hot rolling the sintered pieces at between 700 DEG C. and 900 DEG C. A protective atmosphere such as ammonia is supplied in the furnace which may be of the endless conveyer type. The heating and hot rolling may be repeated as often as necessary to produce a desired density. A final anneal may be given.
