Abstract

819,858. Fuel injection pumps. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. April 16, 1958 [April 17, 1957], No. 12106/58. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXVII]. A distributing element 3 is rotated and reciprocated by a shaft 5 and cam 7 and has a port 33 which communicates successively with passages 74 leading to the injectors, and upstream of a delivery valve 16, a spill groove 29 which is brought into communciation with spill parts 75 connected by passages 77 to the supply tank. A pump element 4 is spring urged into engagement with an abutment 89 on a sleeve 87, the axial position of which is variable by means of a lever 99 which may be used to increase the fuel to the injectors on starting. The element 4 has a conical surface 92 which is engaged by a conical surface 93 during axial movement of the element 3 whereby the elements 3, 4 move together to discharge fuel from the chamber 31. On separation of the elements fuel flows to the chamber 31 through the gap, fuel supply being controlled by an adjustable throttle 112 which may be controlled by a speed governor. The upward movement of the element 3 before it engages the surface 92 increases the pressure in the chamber 95 which increase is stated to be advantageous. During common movement of the elements 3, 4 the chamber 95 is connected to a chamber 94 which is connected by a duct 117 to the fuel line upstream of the throttle 112.
