Abstract

<PICT:0818809/IV (a)/1> In spinning machinery, a mechanism for supplying the impulses controlling a pump supplying the additional spinning solution for the slubs or knops on artificial threads having a fluctuating count comprises a driven disc 14 driven at a constant mean speed of rotation from a driving shaft 3 but at a cyclically varying speed of a predetermined frequency. Gears 8, 9 on the shaft 3 drive gears 11, 12 respectively freely mounted upon a shaft 10, at different speeds. Pivoted at 25 on the gear 12 is a disc 13 having a follower pin 26 engaged in a cam groove 27 of the gear 11 and a coupling by means of a slot 30 with a pin 28 secured to the driven disc 14, the pin 28 passing through an arcuate slot 29 in the gear 12. Thus the disc 13 is oscillated due to the difference of the speeds of gears 11, 12, which oscillation is imparted to the driven disc 14 about the mean speed of rotation thereof which is determined by the gears 9, 12. Coupled to the disc 14 is a contact disc having a part 31 adapted to convey a pump controlling impulse electrically, magnetically or mechanically. The impulse may be further transmitted through relays or hydraulically or pneumatically. A number of such devices may be operated in parallel for generating an irregular succession of impulses having the same average frequency over a long period.
