Class 39(3) [Also in Group VI] A grilling appliance comprises a glazed container enclosing a spit in the form of cage or wire drum rotatable about a horizontal axis and having means for attaching sausages or the like to the exterior thereof and means for heating the sausages or the like when carried on the spit. As shown, a cabinet of polished metal, e.g. stainless steel, has a lower glazed compartment 1 with a drip tray 14 and an upper enclosed compartment 2 separated by a floor 3. The wire spit 4, made, e.g. of steel wire hot tin dipped, has prongs 5 for the sausages and is detachably mounted to be rotated through a gearbox and slip clutch by an electric motor. Heat is provided by a resistance element 7 and infra-red lamps 6 which also provide illumination. Compartment 2 has a flap door 8, trays 9, 10 for water and a condensation tray 11 and is also heated by resistance 7. Buns or rolls are placed on a wire rack 13 supported on trays 9, 10. The temperature is controlled by a thermostat 18 and an on/off switch 19 provided for the motor heating elements and pilot light 20.
