818,128. Bed-settees. DUCROT, A. Nov. 12, 1957 [March 13, 1957], No. 35259/57. Class 52(2) Relates to a convertible seat-bed consisting of a mattress frame made up of three pairs of members 1, 2, 3 pivoted end to end at 50, 51, legs 19, 20 mounted on members 2, 3, a chair seat/footboard unit 43 carried by members 1, a seat back-headboard unit 56 secured to L- shaped members 4 pivoted at 54 to members 3 and various links causing units 43, 56 and legs 19, 20 to move in the appropriate fashion during conversion. According to the invention, a chest-like housing 63 is pivoted on members 3 and legs 20 so that it normally (Fig. 1) encloses the mechanism but swings down as the bed is unfolded and a further pair of legs 62 are projected through slots 66 in the housing as the bed-forming position is reached. Forwardly-extending legs 18 are fixed to legs 19 to give additional support to the bed. In the seat-forming position, upholstery 42 secured to unit 43 conceals the forward part of the mechanism.
