Abstract

817,431. Radar. DECCA RECORD CO. Ltd. Feb. 13, 1958 [Nov. 13, 1956], No. 34747/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (7). In a radar apparatus of the plan position indicator type using a rotating deflection coil system a bearing marker is formed on the display by means of a trace brightening circuit triggered once in each revolution of the radar aerial by the closure of a pair of contacts. One of the contacts is mounted on a support plate rotatably mounted about the neck of the display tube, the other being on the deflection coil system. By adjusting the position of-the support plate about its axis the bearing marker may be brought to any desired position on the screen. The support plate may be provided with a graduated scale which may be projected optically on to a screen. If the apparatus is to be used on a moving vehicle a fixed bearing may be indicated by the marker by rotating the deflection coils by a repeater compass and follow-up system. The marker is unaffected by off-centring of the display. A trace-brightening circuit is given, Fig. 4 (not shown).Specification 664,858 is referred to.
