Abstract
816,568. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. HOBSON Ltd., H. M. Nov. 21, 1957 [Nov. 22, 1956], No. 35788/56. Class 135. In an hydraulic servomotor system in which the piston valve 17 of a power output device, such as a jack 18, is controlled by a hinged plate 12 disposed between two control jets 13, the member 12 is also subjected to the action of two further, velocity feedback, jets 26 so arranged that upon operation of the power piston 19 one of the jets exerts a force opposing the displacement of the member 12. As shown, each end of the power cylinder is connected to the exhaust pipe 23 through a pipe 22 incorporating a restriction 25, the associated jet 26 providing an alternative flow path. Assuming, for example, that the member 12 is displaced clockwise, valve 17 and piston 19 both move to the right, and a portion of the liquid displaced from the righthand end of the power cylinder is discharged through the left-hand nozzle 26 to oppose the displacement of member 12. As shown, the latter is operated by electrical signals through an amplifier 11 and transducer 10, the piston 19 being associated with a potentiometer 20 for sending position feedback signals to the amplifier 11.
