Abstract
816,497. Bidet attachments for closets ; sanitary closets ; flushing cisterns. MAURER, H. Sept. 13, 1957 [Sept. 14, 1956 ; March 13, 1957], No. 28881/57. Class 26. In a water closet appliance on the flushing bowl 1 of which a sprayer device 2 is arranged for washing the lower body parts of the user, the said device comprises a tube 3 slidably mounted in a cylinder 5 and having a sprayer head 4 supplied with water under pressure whereby the head 4 is shifted to protrude from the cylinder 5 into the washing position in the bowl 1, whereupon the pressure water opens an obturator means at the other end of the tube 3 to flow through it and is sprayed from the head 4 partly upwardly through holes 86. Between the obturator means, comprising a valve, the head 9 of which has a restricted orifice 11 and is pressed by a spring 13 against its seat, a weaker spring 14 acting to restore the tube 3 having a slightly downward slope, to its initial position after the water pres sure drops, and the cylinder 5 is a water heater 24 having a thermostat. The obturator member may be opened by depression of an operating member with the foot and closed on removal thereof, means being also provided for the simultaneous flushing of the bowl 1 and the operation of a hot air generating unit 51-52, 54. The hot air unit 51-52, 54 ceases to operate some time after closing the obturator member because of delayed action means acting in conjunction with pull-cord 36, 44, coupled by a member 43 having an abutment flange 47, which upon opening the obturator member hits the lever 48 of a microswitch 49 to start a motor 50 to drive a blower 51 supplying air through a socket 55 having a heater 54 and entering the bowl 1 at 56, a time lag relay 57 causing the motor to be switched off 1 to 2 minutes after opening of the switch 49. The conduit 55 communicates with the flushing water conduit near the points where they issue into the bowl 1. The microswitch 49, time lag relay 57, hot air unit 51-52, 54 and a casing 78 are mounted on a beam 73 fixed by means of two angle pieces 71 to the shelf 60 of the bowl 1. The water heater 24 is so dimensioned that it supplies lukewarm water for a period not exceeding 30 seconds. In a modification a pump is provided which when set in operation supplies pressure water to the cylinder 5. The pump has an inlet connected to a compartment of a flushing cistern (with two compartments) which is not emptied when the discharge valve is opened, the water from the pump passing through a heater to the cylinder 5 through a non-return valve and to operating a piston kinematically connected to the discharge valve so as to open it for as long as the head 4 is in operation. A throw-over-switch which when inoperative closes the circuit of the water heater, in parallel with a hot air unit through the switch of a thermostat for the water heater, is operated by an elastic pedal to interrupt this circuit to drive the pump motor. In this circuit a switch is provided opened by closing the lid of the bowl, a cam on the hinge of the lid acting to open the said switch through a spring-biased pin to stop the hot-air unit.
