Abstract
816,407. Filters. PLENTY & SON Ltd. Sept. 27, 1957 [Oct. 2, 1956], No. 30060/56. Class 46. In a filter which includes a hollow body with inlet and outlet passages which are horizontal in the normal position, a perforated filtering basket, and an access hole above the basket normally closed by a removable cover, the latter is in the form of a solid piece of metal domed downwards towards the basket, the peripheral portion of the lower surface of the cover being no higher than the upper level of the inlet and outlet passages, and the central portion being lower, to prevent air locks. In the embodiment shown the part-spherical surface 42 on the underside of the cover 22 engages a spring handle 40 on a perforated basket 16 to press a flange 18 on the latter against a flange 20 in the body 10. Lugs (not shown) on the cover 22 may, by appropriate positioning of the cover, be located above lugs (not shown) on the outside of the body 10 so that a lever (e.g. the pin 34 otherwise used to removably secure one end of a strongback 28 to the body 10) may be inserted between two vertically adjacent lugs to prise off the cover 22. The other end of the strong-back 28 is hinged by an irremovable pin 32.
