Abstract

816,065. Blow-pipe burners. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. April 25, 1957 [May 4, 1956], No. 13873/56. Class 75(1) [Also in Group XXIII A blow-pipe for maintaining liquid an ingot hot top by directing an oxy-fuel gas flame thereon comprises separate conduits for the oxygen and fuel gas, formed by two - coaxial tubes, the nozzle being removably mounted on the outer tube and the corresponding end of the inner tube abutting in gastight manner against a seating on the nozzle, the oxygen and fuel gas mixing at a point within the nozzle. In the form shown, the nozzle 11 is mounted on an outer tube 10 having a co-axial inner tube 14, the end of which abuts in gas-tight manner on a seating 25 having a central recess 26 connected by passages 27 to openings 28 in the nozzle tip. The tube 14 is held in place by a perforated spacer 23 forming a recess 13 connected by passages 30 to points in the passages 27. The other end of the tube 14 is welded or brazed to a flange 16 at the rear of the tube 10. Fuel gas is fed to the tube 14 by a pipe 19 and oxygen to the space between the tubes 10, 14 by a pipe 22.
