Abstract

A cover for an absorbent layer forming a surgical dressing comprises a sheet of synthetic resin film in which there are a number of curvilinear slits, to permit the passage of wound exudate through the film to the absorbent material. The slits are preferably arranged as rows and lines of arcuate cuts and alternate lines may curve in opposite directions, with adjacent rows mutually displaced. The whole sheet may be finely perforated or provided with corrugations, to assist the passage of exudate.
