Abstract
814,407. Deburring. MORRIS Ltd., B-O. March 29, 1957 [June 15, 1956], No. 18518/56. Class 60. Deburring apparatus comprises a head adjustably supported on a pivoted traversing arm, the head including an arbor adopted to be rotated by a motor, one end of the arbor being adopted to receive a semi-finished part to be deburred, and at least one driven rotary brush so arranged relatively to the arm and the head that the arm can be turned about its pivot to bring the semi-finished part into contact with the rotary brush or brushes ; it is suitable for deburring gear wheels, splines, nuts, small pulley wheels &c. A rotary arbor 15 on which the workpiece is placed is driven through a flexible shaft 13 by an electric motor 12 mounted on the base 11 of a frame 10. The arbor 15 is supported in a head 14 mounted by a pivot pin 32 on a bracket 33 in turn supported by a pivot pin 34 on a bracket 16. The bracket 16 is vertically adjustable on an arm 17 by a screw 35 controlled by a hand-wheel 36 and can be locked in adjusted position by a threaded stud 38 operated by a hand-wheel 37. The arm 17 is pivotally mounted by nuts 18 on a screwed shaft 26 operated by hand-wheel 27. Pivotal movement of the arm 17 against the action of a spring 28 is effected by a pneumatic cylinder 20 connected at one end to a block 22 movable by a screw 23 operated by a hand-wheel 24; the position of the cylinder is connected to the arm 17 at 25. The cylinder 20 is controlled by a valve 31 operated by an electromagnet 46 which, together with the motor 12, is controlled by a timer 52. Workpieces 45 carried by arbors 15 are de-burred by rotary brushes 43, 44 driven by an electric motor or by flexible shafts.
