Abstract

814,173. Hydroplanes. SAUNDERS-ROE Ltd. Sept. 14, 1956 [June 16, 1955], No. 17446/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 113. The invention relates to a hydrofoil assembly wherein two or more hydrofoils are mounted one above the other and the vertical spacing and dihedrals are such that the top of a lower hydrofoil is at or above the bottom of the next hydrofoil above it. According to the invention, the assembly, viewed in elevation, is constructed as a triangulated lattice girder i.e. the total number of structural members (hydrofoils and struts) equals twice the number of joints minus three. The Provisional Figures show four suitable constructions (S indicates struts and F indicates hydrofoils) and the Complete Figures, Figs. 1 .. 3, illustrate the hydrofoil assemblies mounted on a marine craft.
