Class 65(1) A jointed folding stay has two arms 1, 2 pivoted to brackets 3, 12, a projection 13 on the bracket 12 engaging a slot 14 or notch in the arm 1 when the stay is folded to look a casement 6 closed. In the extended position the arms 1, 2 just pass over the dead-centre position, an operating handle 10 on the cam 2 acting as a stop. The arm 1 may be of inverted channel section so that in the folded position the arm 2 fits inside it. A spring loaded catch may be incorporated at the pivot 9 to hold the casement 6 in intermediate positions.
