Abstract
A mild steel which is resistant to oxidation in the presence of oxidizing gases such as carbon dioxide and water vapour at elevated temperatures contains. Carbon 0.1 to 0.18 per cent; manganese 0.4 to 1.4 per cent; silicon 0.05 to 0.15 per cent; beryllium 0.01 to 0.08 per cent; nickel 0 to 1 per cent; copper 0 to 0.6 per cent; molybdenum 0 to 0.45 per cent; chromium 0 to 1 per cent; aluminium 0 to 1.5 per cent the balance being iron and impurities. According to the Provisional Specification the percentages of silicon and molybdenum may be up to 0.3 and 0.6 respectively. Specification 803,941 is referred to.
