Abstract

801,858. Knitting. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. March 14, 1956 [April 20, 1955], No. 8040/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group IX]. A fabric or article or a selected part thereof, e.g. the welt of a stocking, is knitted from a polyamide, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polyvinylidene chloride, polyacrylonitrile or polyester yarn which has been rendered twist lively and resistant to temperature influences (see Group IX). The liveliness of the yarn is suppressed during knitting, as by previous application of size, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, and is released thereafter to impart elasticity to the fabric. Alternate courses or groups thereof are knitted with S and Z twisted yarns respectively to produce a fishbone pattern.
