801,163. Glass compositions. ZEISSSTIFTUNG, C. [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN.] Sept. 13, 1956 [Sept 14, 1955], No. 28042/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. A glass particularly for optical purposes contains at least 30 per cent Al2O 3 , 5-35 per cent CaO, replaceable in part by SrO, BaO or MgO; 1-28 per cent alkalis; 0À1-10 per cent F. and at most 25 per cent of SiO 2 . The preferred alkali is LiO 2 . A large number of examples are given also containing the following additives : B 2 O 3 , ZnO, La 2 O 3 , Ta 2 O 5 , ZrO 2 , CdO, TiO 2 , PbO, Bi 2 O 2 , WO 3 , TeO 2 As 2 O 2 .
