Class 17(2) [Also in Groups VIII and XVI] Leather for shoe soles and heel taps is provided with a profile having successive projections and depressions therebetween, characterized in that the depressions are at least 1 mm. and preferably 2-3 mm. or more deep, rounded at the crest and at the trough and with inclined sides, by treatment in a stamping press, preferably after impregnation with a silicone resin. The profiling may be grooves running mainly transverse to the longitudinal axis of the sole, circular grooves or a net-like pattern.
