Abstract
A fraction of increased aromatic content is obtained from a platinum reformate by distilling the reformate into a lower-boiling fraction consisting largely of paraffins and preferably boiling up to about 95 DEG C. and a higher-boiling fraction which is subjected to extraction with a selective solvent for aromatics and recovering the extract. The solvent extraction is preferably carried out using an aqueous di- and/or tri-ethylene glycol containing 5-20 per cent by volume of water, at 200-400 DEG F., 0-500 p.s.i.g., using a solvent to feed volume ratio of 2 to 10 : 1 and 5-40 theoretical stages. The low-boiling fraction from the distillation may be recycled to the reforming process or blended into motor gasoline.
