Abstract
800,303. Photo-electric light meter. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 10, 1956 [Feb. 15, 1955], No. 4535/55. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XX] The light flux from an extended object 54 is measured by comparing it with the flux from a lamp 55, located behind an opaque reflector 56, using a photo-electric light meter comprising a lens 52 which focuses the object 54 on a photo-cell 53, a scalloped diffraction grating 11 which forms a uniform patch of light on the photo-cell and a rotary shutter which alternately cuts off the light from the lamp and the object. The resulting photocell output is amplified and fed to an indicator (e.g. headphones or a meter) and the lamp brightness is adjusted for balance.
