Abstract
809,876. Television. COLE Ltd., E. K., and CLARKE, R. L. Nov. 8, 1957 [Nov. 8, 1956], No. 34098/56. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL (c)] The cathode-ray tube 1, Fig. 1, of a television receiver is located and supported within a cabinet 6-9 by a plurality of pressure exerting devices 2-5 which are secured to the cabinet structure and exert pressure resiliently against the peripheral wall of the tube close to the front face thereof. Each pressure-exerting device may be constructed as shown in side elevation in Fig. 3 in the form of a bracket structure 11, 13 carrying a wedge member 15 which is adjustable in position (vertically in Fig. 3) by rotation of a screw-threaded rod 14, the wedge member exerting pressure against the inclined surface of a further wedge member 16 so as to displace it horizontally into engagement with the wall 18 of the cathode-ray tube. Wedge member 16 carries on its front face a resilient pad 17 of rubber of like material and is guided in its displacement by projections engaging the lower limb of bracket member 13. If desired, only two of the devices may be adjustable as shown in Fig. 3, the remainder being fixed blocks.
