Class 117 Foodstuffs or other material of vegetable or animal origin which may be in ground or mashed form in separated according to particle size or shape into different fractions by an apparatus comprising a container 1 from which the material is fed into a chamber 6 via a pipe 4 and a funnel 5. The chamber contains concentric rotary cylindrical sieves 7-9 mounted on a shaft 11 rotated by gearing 35-38 driven by pedals 39. The material is spread outwardly by a rotary cone 13 and the sieved fractions pass separately through rotary pipes 19-21 attached to the shaft to separate annular chambers formed within a container 22. An outlet pipe leads from each annular chamber. The container 1 may be heated. Each sieve may have two or more spreader cones such as 13 each with a perforation in its wall to allow the flow of material to the base of the sieve. Stationary rods 56 with bristles, Fig. 10, are fixed to an arm 57 and clean the sieves as they rotate. In Fig. 11 the material flows from a container into a hollow shaft 58 and then passes through an outlet 59 into a set of horizontal concentric sieves 60, 61 which rotate about the shaft. The sieves are driven by pedals 70 and gearing 71-73. Fractions of different size pass separately through pipes 64, 66 and 68 to separate outlets 65, 67 and 69. In Fig. 12 the sieves 78-80 are horizontal and flat and are contained in a box 81 fed from a container 76. The box is vibrated by a mechanism 82-84 and the fractions of different size pass separately through pipes 85-88 to a box 89 divided into compartments 90-93 with outlets 95-98.
