Abstract

809,575. Wheel rims. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Jan. 8, 1957 [Oct. 12, 1956], No. 706/57. Class 144 (2). In a tubeless tyre drop centre wheel rim 12 having tyre bead seats 21, 27 with a taper angle of from 15 to 20 degrees and terminating in low side flanges 20, 30, one of the flanges is removable to permit mounting of large-size tyres 11 I on the rim. As shown, the rim 12 has an offcentre well 23.with radially inwardly converging side walls 24, 25 and an axial base 26, the side wall 24 merging into an axial portion 22 connecting into the bead seat 21 which terminates in an integral side flange 20. The opposite bead seat 27 connects directly into the well side wall 25 and terminates axially outwardly in a gutter 28 which receives a split removable side flange 30 having the same contour as the flange 20. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 754,122.
