Abstract

809,532. Sausages, linking. WALL & SONS Ltd., T. April 12, 1956 [June 17, 1955], No. 1349/55. Class 28 (2). Two or more adjacent lengths of sausage are laid between platforms 16 which are then rotated together to twist one sausage over the other. The sausages are first necked at spaced intervals by cross-plates 3a, 3b when the opened upper platform is hinged down about a hinge rod 10 whereby thhe cross plates 3a, 3b which space the various platforms longitudinally, press down on the sausage lengths at spaced intervals against the lower plates 1b &c. to form necks. Thereafter rotation of the handle 19 rotates the adjacent platforms through gears 20, half gears 21 and other gears 22 so that the links are turned over about each other as in Fig. 3. Each platform is mounted on half tubes, e.g. 13a and 13b at its sides and the ends of the half tubes are guided in annular grooves 11 in the necking plates, e.g. 2a and 2b. In the case of three superposed platforms 16 being used, each supporting one sausage length, the middle platform is stationary, the upper and lower platforms being rotated 360 degrees about the middle platform.
