Abstract
809,379. Injectors. CONSOLIDATED ELECTRODYNAMICS CORPORATION. Aug. 2, 1956, No. 23903/56. Class 71. Cooling of the pool of working liquid 15 at the bottom of the casing 2 of a high vacuum diffusion pump at the end of an operating period is effected by passing cooling liquid e.g. tap water through a conduit 52 located near the level 16 of the pool and having its inlet and outlet 54, 53 outside the casing. As shown the cooling conduit comprises a flat spiral just below the level 16 and in operation cooling water is passed therethrough after switching off heaters 50 located below the bottom plate 12 of the casing 2 at the end of the cooling period a valve 11 is opened to admit atmospheric pressure to the pujp casing in which are located high intermediate and low pressure annular nozzles 25, 40 and 35.
