Abstract
807,870. Electrophotographic apparatus. ZINDLER, W., [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER K.G.]. April 15, 1957 [April 24, 1956], No. 12257. Class 98(2) An apparatus is described for performing the steps of charging, exposure, developing and fixing on a photoconductive layer on a backing while it is supported in one position on a plate. The photoconductive layer on its backing is supported throughout the operation on a plate 15 Fig. 1). It is precharged by moving an electrode 25 comprising wires across its surface by means of an external' operating handle. The layer is then exposed to an original 4 by means of lamps 9, 10 lens 14 and mirror 13, and the electrostatic latent image is developed with powder from a hopper 19 by rotating a roller 20 in the mouth of the hopper. Even distribution is facilitated by pivoting the plate 15 at 17 and shaking it by means of an eccentric wheel 18, which may be connected for rotation to the roller 20 and operated by a handle 21. The developed image is fused by swinging a heating element 31 from a position outside the image-forming beam to a position parallel and close to the plate 15. Different image magnifications may be obtained by swinging lens 14 about a pivot to the position shown by 16, and by placing the original 4 in the lower guides 7, 8. The charging electrode and heater may be spring loaded to return them to their inoperative positions, and contact switches may be provided to energize these devices when moved from their inoperative positions by their actuating handles.
