Abstract

807,652. Lighting fittings. BULL, J. Aug. 27, 1956 [Dec. 30, 1955], No. 37442/55. Class 75(4) [Also in Group XXXVI] An electric lighting unit comprises a casing supporting one or more fluorescent lamps and a covered resistance element, the covering of which is in good heatconducting relationship with the casing. The resistance element is preferably in the form of a flat strip. In the form shown, the resistance consists of a wire 7, Fig. 2, wound helically on a strip 8 of insulating material e.g. cardboard, mounted between strips 9 of similar material and enclosed in a folded cover 10 of similar material which is finally enclosed in a metal strip covering 11. The casing consists of a base 1, Fig. 1, on which holders 5 for the fluorescent tubes and starter switches 4 are mounted and a cover 2 having apertures 6 for the holders 5 and switches 4, the resistance strip being arranged between the base and the cover.
