Abstract
806,244. Cleaning sand. BIRMIDAL DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd. July 23, 1956 [July 22, 1955], No. 21227/55. Class 82(2) Foundry sand is cleaned by forming it into a slurry with water and scrubbing it in a container by means of an impeller which causes circulating motion downwards in the middle of the body of the sand, radially outwards in the lower part and radially inwards at the upper part. The sand is then separated from the water, dried and combined with a synthetic resin binder. The apparatus disclosed comprises a container 5 with an impeller 7. An inlet opening 8 and an outlet opening 11 are provided, the latter leading to a known classifier 13, with one or more discharge nozzles 14 through which an upward current of water is, directed to remove dirt &c. and discharge it from the overflow pipe 16.
