805,798. Envelopes. BARCA, P. May 22, 1957 [June 6, 1956], No. 17506/56. Class 146(2) An envelope machine closure arrangement which can be made without sealing the envelope comprises a flap 2 to which is made to adhere to a withdrawable sheet 4. The sheet 4 is a little smaller than the envelope and may contain printed matter, may have a detachable portion, contain a turned up portion for easy withdrawal, or may be an adhesive label. The envelope may be closed by moistening a part of the sheet '4 which shows at the flap opening 6 or by moistening adhesive 3 provided on the flap 2 at a position which contacts the sheet 4 and not the envelope 1. In a modification, the flap 2 may be of the same size as the opening 6 in which case the adhesive is close to the edges of the flap 2. The edges of the flap may be wavy so that only parts of the flap overlap the envelope, and in a further modification, the flap is trapezoidal and overlaps an opening which is narrower.
