[Also in Group XXIV] In a friction or bearing member, sintered metal or cement-type friction material a is rigidly connected to a backing shell b by inserting it as a unit into a hole or recess and applying pressure to cause it to fill the hole or recess. In the case of a hole the metal may overlap on one or both sides. In Fig. 9, two inserts e, f are dove-tailed together upon application of pressure.
