Abstract

804,936. Bottle &c., closure caps. CIBA Ltd. May 29, 1957 [May 29, 1956 ; Dec. 12, 1956], No. 17077/57. Class 125(3). In a bottle or like container closure arrangement the bottle mouth 4 has a conical inner surface 11 and a screw cap 1 contains a bowl shaped packing member 7 of elastic material such as a mixture of polyethylene and polyisobutylene and provided with a central projection 6 abutting the underside of cap 1 so that when the cap is screwed on to the bottle member 7 is distorted into full contact with surface 11 to form an airtight seal. In a modification, Fig. 5, the member 7 is held in the cap by a tubular projection 6 engaging a pin 5 on the cap instead of a flange 9a engaging the screw threads. In a further modification the pin 5 is hollow and in a still further modification, Fig. 9, the packing member 7 has a part forming a pressure bulb 14 and carries a dropping pipette 16.
