Spraying apparatus capable of delivering a solution or suspension of variable composition includes a liquid supply tank 33 connected by conduit to a closed mixing vessel 31, and a pump 15 draws liquid from the vessel and feeds it to spray means, and simultaneously the liquid discharged from the vessel is replaced by liquid from the tank. In order to spray liquid of continuously decreasing concentration the tank contains a diluent and the vessel a liquid concentrate, whereas by supplying concentrate to the tank and diluent to the vessel a spray liquid of continuously increasing concentration is produced. The vessel includes a stirrer 4 and the pump feeds a manifold 18 supplying pipes 19 leading to spray nozzles on a spray bar. Initially, if a spray of continuously decreasing concentration is to be delivered, the manifold and supply tubes 30, 34 are filled with diluent by the pump by setting a valve 32 to isolate the vessel and to connect the tank with the pump. For the spraying operation, the valve is set to connect the closed vessel 31 with the pump and as liquid is drawn from the vessel diluent is drawn into it from the tank via pipe 28, filter 27 and valves 1, 2. In a modification the pump is located between the tank and vessel, and in a further embodiment the tank supplies two concentrate vessels in parallel, each supplying a manifold feeding spray nozzles. Alternatively the single mixing vessel may be replaced by two such vessels in series. The apparatus is carried on a tractor or trailer and the pump is driven from the power take-off of the tractor or from a land wheel so that the rate of delivery of the pump is approximately proportional to the tractor speed.
